Our Child Care provides professional and non-professional childcare workers the scope to establish and operate their own businesses from any premises, giving them a fairer and more equitable working environment. Our Child Care provides tips on how to set up home based childcare businesses and the tax advantages of operating a business from home. Childcare workers who undertake work via Our Child Care are covered by Our Child Care’s professional indemnity and public liability insurance policy provided each session of work is registered through the site.

Our Child Care is essentially an internet platform which connects workers and clients, to provide parents with childcare services.

How We Operate

Our Child Care is ideal for qualified and non qualified workers. This includes mums, grandparents, child care workers, kindergarten teachers, primary school teachers and carers who have experience in languages, music, arts, sports and other activities. Parents engaging child carers will have more control over what their child learns and with whom. The range of services available through Our Child Care includes childcare to kinder programs, school drop offs and pickups, vacation care and even weekend drop offs for out of school activities that can be difficult especially when there are two or more children involved.

Our Child Care connects school and neighbourhood communities together so that available parents can assist in the care of school and non school age children. Depending on the childcare worker’s level of education they can offer the clients as much or as little education as required for the age level of the child. Qualified childcare providers operating a home based business can apply for CCB funding which assists parents with affordability. The Department of Human Services provides the guidelines for home based childcare businesses. In addition, home based childcare providers require working with children checks, photo identification and police checks.

While Our Child Care provides the facility to connect care givers and parents, it is the responsibility of parents and care givers to meet, determine suitability and negotiate terms. Once terms are agreed, care givers can be engaged on a once off, daily, weekly, monthly or casual basis. Parents are encouraged to interview a number of different prospective childcare workers and to check references. All work registered with Our Child Care by the care giver is covered by our blanket professional indemnity and public liability insurance policy, subject to terms and conditions. Work includes individual casual engagements through to longer term care.

How to Sign Up

Registering with Our Child Care is easy. Whether you are a parent seeking a child carer, or a child carer seeking work or clients for your home based childcare services, Our Child Care makes the process easy. To sign up as a parent to find a carer, whether on a casual basis or on a more permanent basis, at home or at the home of a home based childcare service provider, simply to go to the Parents tab and register. Once registered, you can post a job or search listings of available carers. To sign up as a carer to either search jobs or create a profile to promote your services simple go to the Register tab.

Our Fees

There are no joining fees to register with Our Child Care. Registration as either a parent or a care giver is free. When a care giver provides services to a parent, Our Child Care receives 14 percent of the cost of services provided for the casual engagement or the day. An engagement may be a casual period of care or a full day of care. Fees are calculated on a session or daily basis. Care givers providing services are insured through Our Child Care provided the session of work is undertaken through Our Child Care and fees are paid as per terms and conditions.

Our Founders

The team at Our Child Care consists of a group of mothers, business advisors and professional industry experts with the collective aim of improving access to childcare for all and ensuring it is affordable and fair for parents and care givers.

Maria Paola

Maria is a co founder, mother, registered nurse and midwife, who has worked as a nurse for over 30 years. Maria has also owned and operated several childcare centres over a period of 20 years and has an intimate understanding of the childcare environment. Maria is passionate about children’s education and wellbeing and is keen to see the childcare and school system work harder to embrace the talents of all children. Not all children are academic, many are artistic and talented in music, languages and other areas and this needs to be explored further to ensure all children are given the opportunity to shine, be different and pursue their own interests and goals.
 

Tanya Chronopoulos

Tanya is a co founder and CEO of Our Child Care. Tanya is a mother of four beautiful children and brings many years of corporate financial experience to the team. As a mother who has worked full time and raised children, Tanya understands more than anyone the challenges faced by working parents having to organise different types of care for her children including day care, before school care, after school care and other care. Tanya found through her own personal experience as well as speaking with friends, family and colleagues there is great concern among parents about the cost of child care, the disruption to the family having to drop and pick up children at early and late hours of the day and the quality of care being provided in day care centres. Tanya believes it takes a village to raise a child and the more attention our little ones get, the better equipped they will be in becoming young strong adults who are confident and able not only to respect themselves but also to show the same respect for others.

From this dilemma Our Child Care was born. Our Child Care is a platform where parents and guardians are able to choose a child care worker who will look after their children in a more personalised, devoted environment for a fraction of the fees that childcare centres charge. With little to no overheads, devoted child care workers will be able to spend more time with the little ones in their care and less time worrying about other things.
